|Trauma from abuse can last a lifetime. Those who are
abused as children often lock the memory away; it is too
psychologically overwhelming to face. But the body
remembers. And so do the hidden corners of the mind.
The abuse can also affect all relationships.
|If you are being abused (or suspect you are), I strongly
recommend counseling. If you know (or suspect) of a child or a
vulnerable adult who is being abused, report it. In most cases your
name will not be revealed to the abuser and you may save a life.
|If you know or suspect that you were abused in the
past, seek counseling. This is especially important
if the abuser is still in a position to abuse others.
